Frequently Asked Questions

What does a Reiki treatment feel like?

"I feel very refreshed and seem to be thinking more clearly." "I think I fell asleep." "I can't believe how hot your hands got!" "I feel more relaxed than even after a massage." "My headache is gone." These are some of things people typically say after a Reiki session. However, feelings of deep relaxation are usually felt by all. The experience of Reiki is subjective, changeable, and sometimes very subtle. People often experience heat in the practitioner's hands, but sometimes the practitioner's hands feel refreshingly cool. Other common experiences are subtle pulsations where the practitioner's hands are placed or cascading waves of pulsations throughout the body. As the Reiki energy encourages one to let go of all tension, anxiety, fear or other negative feelings, a state of peace and well-being is experienced. Some drift off to sleep or report floating outside their bodies or have visions and other mystical experiences. What one experiences during a Reiki treatment varies somewhat from person to person. At the end of the treatment, one feels refreshed with a more positive, balanced outlook.

Are there any side affects from a Reiki treatment?

Most of the time a person will feel relaxed and uplifted by a Reiki treatment. However, sometimes a person will have what is called a healing crisis. As a person’s vibration goes up, toxins that have been stored in the body will be released into the blood stream to be filtered by the liver and kidneys and removed from the system. When this happens, sometimes a person can get a headache or stomach ache or feel weak. If this happens, it is a good idea to drink more water, eat lighter meals and get more rest. The body is cleansing as part of the healing process so this is a good sign. For some, physical and psychological symptoms may worsen as the mind/body cleanses itself. This is normal and expected, so if it happens to you, just ride it out and know that the discomfort will pass and you’ll feel much better soon. It’s important to support your body as best you can to help you move past the cleansing process.

What is Distance Healing?

Distance healing is any form of healing energy "sent" across time and space that is received and has a healing effect on the recipient. With this type of work, you do not have to be physically present with the healer to receive the healing. Energy is not something physical. Reiki knows no barriers or boundaries. I am able to channel Reiki energies to anyone or anything. This type of healing is equally effective as an in person healing because in alternative energy healing and holistic medicine therapies, we are working with the physical, emotional and mental aspects of an individual by accessing the individual’s energy body. The energy body can be accessed easily from anywhere and at any time and does not require you to be physically present with the practitioner.

If I am recieving Distance Healing, how long do I have to be idle for?

Reiki at a distance is quicker than in person so expect to be idle for half an hour. The reason you are asked to be idle is so you are the most receptive to the energy, though Reiki energy will be absorbed by your body even if you are busy.

How can you treat me if we haven't met?

I do not need to know you personally or have ever met you in order to send Reiki to you. I do however, need to know certain basic information about the person that I am to direct Reiki to, and that is sufficient for Reiki to work. Reiki has a sort of sixth sense and knows where it is needed most.

How many sessions should I recieve?

Four sessions is usually recommended and gives you time to evaluate what benefits you are receiving. If there is a health challenge, I recommend four sessions over four days.
